US and Iran ceasefire strained by Israeli strikes on Lebanon

  • Israeli strikes on Lebanon on Wednesday resulted in at least 254 deaths and 1,165 injuries, according to Lebanon's Civil Defence.
  • The Israeli military described the bombardment as its "largest strike" on Lebanon since the conflict began, targeting over 100 Hezbollah sites in Beirut, Beqaa, and southern Lebanon within 10 minutes.
  • Plumes of black smoke filled Beirut skies as residents searched through rubble following the extensive attacks.
  • In response, Iran-backed Hezbollah claimed rocket attacks on Manara in northern Israel early Thursday morning.
  • Hezbollah stated its retaliatory actions would persist until the "Israeli-American aggression" against Lebanon ceases, with the strikes testing a fragile US-Iran ceasefire.
