The Pitt’s Noah Wyle has credited ER fans with inspiring him to create a new medical drama set in the post-COVID world.
Each season of the HBO show follows a single day in the life of the emergency room, which is led by Wyle’s character Dr Robby, at a hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania following the pandemic.
Appearing on The One Show on Thursday (26 March), Wyle, who found fame on ER, said many fans of hit 90s show, who went on to work in the medical profession, reached out to the actor during the pandemic and told him of their struggles.
He said speaking to them was the “catalyst” that led to him contacting the production team. “We all sort of independently had the same idea that there was another story to tell, post-COVID, about what was happening in American healthcare.”
