Steven Spielberg stunned film fans on Friday, by making a surprise appearance at a pub quiz in London.
The American director turned up to the event at The Devonshire where he enjoyed a pint of Guinness while shocked fans were taking part in a quiz all about his esteemed filmography.
The 79-year-old was accompanied by actor Colman Domingo, one of the stars of his forthcoming film Disclosure Day.
The quiz was hosted by Radio 1’s film critic Ali Plumb, who also couldn’t seem to believe the director was there.
Plumb shared images on Instagram of Spielberg and Domingo surrounded by dozens of smiling fans, writing: “I hosted a Steven Spielberg pub quiz, and Steven Spielberg turned up. Yep, I know, I truly, fully know.”
The Devonshire's co-owner, Oisín Rogers, told the BBC that Spielberg said he had a "lovely time" and "really enjoyed" his Guinness.
Disclosure Day has been earning some early rave reviews, with some critics dubbing it Spielberg’s “best film in 20 years”.
The directors’ 37th film, it centres around the unravelling of a government conspiracy, and also stars Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, and Colin Firth.
It is set to be released on June 12th, and promises to mark a return to the theme of aliens for Spielberg, who earned Oscar nominations for directing Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T in 1978 and 1983 respectively.
