Ship on fire in Strait of Hormuz just hours after another boat seized and ‘sailed towards Iran’

  • An unidentified vessel was boarded by 'unauthorised personnel' off the UAE port of Fujairah, near the Strait of Hormuz, and redirected towards Iran, as reported by the British maritime security agency UKMTO.
  • Separately, an Indian-flagged wooden cargo vessel sank in Omani waters following a fire, suspected to be from a drone or missile strike.
  • Iran is reportedly making deals for ship passage through the Strait of Hormuz, with its IRGC claiming 30 vessels had crossed since Wednesday morning.
  • Iran's Fars news agency reported an agreement allowing some Chinese ships to pass through the vital waterway.
  • Trump discussed the crisis with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with both leaders agreeing the Strait should remain open and Iran should not acquire nuclear weapons.
