New action movie hitting screens this week with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score is being compared to The Raid

Miao Xie running in The Furious.

In need of an action movie fix? You'd be wise to head to the theater this Friday, as Hong Kong action-thriller The Furious is being called "one of the best fight movies of the 21st century" in glowing reviews.

Currently sitting on a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 52 reviews, The Furious shares a crucial piece of DNA with another 21st Century fight movie classic, The Raid – it co-stars Joe Taslim as a man who really knows how to throw a punch. And a kick. And use every other body part in ways that really hurt.

Xie Miao leads The Furious as Wang Wei, an ordinary tradesman whose daughter is kidnapped. Alongside Taslim's journalist ally, Navin, the pair fight their way through a criminal empire to get her back. A simple set up, but one that's elevated by its extraordinary action choreography, according to reviews.

Over at Slant, critic Jake Cole calls it an "ambitiously staged brawler," while The Houston Chronicle doesn't hold back, claiming "In terms of pure, unhinged action, The Furious is the best of its type from the last decade." We could go on, but you probably get the picture.

The Furious debuted at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, and has been subject to rave recommendations ever since. If you're a fan of The Raid, or movies like Extraction on Netflix, The Furious sounds like your next must-see action movie.

The Furious releases in theaters on June 12. For more, check out our list of the most exciting upcoming movies heading your way throughout the year.
