Maryland woman grabs Jersey Mikes sub, one distracted bite later, she was getting a CT scan for an alleged foreign object stuck in her throat

A Maryland esthetician recently found herself with a medical emergency after a quick meal. The creator, known on TikTok as Aquadoll or @thewaxingdoll, shared a montage of clips that has since racked up 639.7K views.

In the video, she shows a montage of events. It starts with a rueful smile and a hand on her neck, followed by shots of a hospital wristband, a Jersey Mike’s bag, and evidence of multiple IV attempts. Then she drops the story in the caption.

Aquadoll wrote:

“Not my usual content but story time: I had an Italian sandwich from Jersey Mike’s in Woodmore town Center on Sunday 24th and as I was chewing, I felt something plastic and when I look there was a plastic sharded in my tonsils, and after x-rays, CT and three failed IVs, I finally got it removed ( but ended up swallowing it 😭).”

She claims that after the event, she tried to call the store to give them a heads-up:

“Not even asking for money back or anything and was Just told that they didn’t believe me. (I explained everything to the manager and even offered to show my discharge paperwork and I even told him I still had the sandwich if they wanna look at it) cried to call corporate & corporate don’t answer. I’m dropping it and just want to bring awareness. be careful where you eat 😐😭”

TikTok rallied behind her and even figured out which exact store she was referring to

The comments section on her video quickly became a hub of advice and support. Courtneychiwa told her, “If you have a phone, you have a lawyer” while Sunflower🌻 suggested, “Small claims so they can pay for your medical bills”. Others felt the company’s reaction was inexcusable, with Joseph Espino noting, “Jersey mikes manager sounded like he ain’t even care smh what a joke of a company.”

Other commenters provided actionable steps for the creator to take. User spencer advised, “Report them to the health department and file a case with them”. mrs.ologun🤍 added, “contact the health department and keep trying corporate!”

User Mikki.yo provided a detailed plan: “The local news loves a good story!!! Include everyone you spoke with, leave a review with yelp and google (make it 2 start so they can’t request for it to be deleted) and file a complaint with BBB. Also maybe even seek a lawyer”.

According to MidHudson Injury Law, when you purchase food, you’re entitled to expect it to be safe. Under contract law, food sellers make an implied warranty that the food they serve or sell is safe and fit for consumption. When that promise is broken, it can lead to serious consequences.

MidHudson Injury Law notes that foreign-object cases range from unpleasant to alarming, often involving materials like metal fragments, glass shards, or rigid plastic. These objects are particularly dangerous as they can lead to choking hazards, internal injuries, or broken teeth.

The legal experts at MidHudson Injury Law emphasize that if you find a foreign object in your food, you should prioritize your health and seek medical care if you feel unwell. It’s also vital to document everything, including photos of the object, the food, and your receipts. You should also preserve the evidence by keeping the item and any uneaten food in a sealed bag.

Most importantly, do not return everything to the store or restaurant, as they may discard it before you have a chance to explore your legal options. Contacting an attorney early is often the best way to handle these matters, as these cases rely heavily on evidence and proper documentation.

After the sheer amount of advice and encouragement from the community, Aquadoll mentioned in the comments that she had reached out to a lawyer. Now, we just have to wait and see how her case goes, if Jersey Mike’s will step forward, and how they proceed. As of writing, they have not issued a formal response.

Recently, a Florida mom filed a lawsuit against Walmart and Campbell’s after she opened a can of Spaghetti O’s and found worms. However, finding contaminated foods or foreign objects isn’t the only problem. One Chili’s customer opened her order only to find evidence that suggests someone else had used her dipping sauce before her.
