  • Clifton George has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 23 years for the murder of his partner, Annabel Rook.
  • George stabbed Ms Rook 31 times during an argument at their Stoke Newington home on 16 June 2025, after she said she wanted to end their 10-year relationship.
  • Following the murder, George caused a gas explosion by starting a fire in the basement, which ripped through the property.
  • He was convicted of murder by a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court, despite attempting to claim loss of self-control as a partial defence.
  • Ms Rook, a charity worker and daughter of retired Old Bailey judge Peter Rook, had previously experienced violence from George, who was known for his short temper.
