Lenny Kravitz’s Steel and Wood Kitchen Is a Study in Tactile Appeal – It Perfects Layered Neutral Trends for 2026

Lenny Kravitz .

As we welcome the bright, sun-drenched days of summer, our attention naturally turns to refreshing our living spaces. When discussing the trends that are currently influencing how we decorate our kitchens, natural wooden features consistently come out on top – and nobody has set a finer precedent than Lenny Kravitz.

The singer beautifully balances organic wooden features, including his walls and open shelves, with cool stainless steel countertops. This sleek addition interrupts the wood's inherent warmth, offering a refreshing twist on this enduring kitchen trend that feels perfect for the sunny months ahead.

The space serves as a masterclass in how to mix and match materials, showcasing a stark contrast that is as functional for summer hosting as it is visually striking. It is unsurprising, therefore, that design experts encourage us to follow suit in 2026.

Shop the Wooden Kitchen Edit

Carved edges

Designed to look just as good on display as it does in use, this serving board combines natural wood with elegant scalloped detailing. Use it to showcase charcuterie spreads while hosting.

Elevated Essential

Whenever I'm introducing a new material or finish into a kitchen, I like to begin with the smaller details. A wooden salt-and-pepper set is an easy, affordable way to layer in warmth, and this distinctive design from Anthropologie immediately caught my eye.

Natural finish

Crafted from natural wood, this generously sized bowl is one of those versatile pieces you'll reach for time and again. Whether styled on a countertop or used to serve salads and sharing dishes, it adds an effortless sense of warmth to any space.

Beautifully Crafted

If you're looking beyond the usual kitchen utensils, this collection of wooden pieces is a stylish alternative. The raw, chunky wood design never goes out of fashion, meaning they'll look great collected in a jar on any counter or island.

Neutral Tone

Few kitchen essentials work as hard as a wooden cutting board. Equally useful for meal prep and display, it brings warmth, texture, and a considered touch to countertops when not in use.

100% acacia wood

The most versatile homewares strike a balance between practicality and design. Crafted from richly grained acacia wood, this serving piece brings a sculptural quality to the table while remaining durable enough for everyday use, hosting, or display.

You can easily tap into the natural, sun-warmed beauty of a wooden kitchen with these handpicked buys. They look spectacular whether they are paired with stainless steel or left to shine entirely on their own.

'Utilizing textures in kitchen design can make a huge difference to the overall aesthetics of the room, adding visual interest and tactile appeal to pared-back color schemes,' notes Grazzie Wilson, the head of creative at Ca’ Pietra, who highlights mixed materials among her top kitchen trends.

While the abundance of wood in Kravitz's kitchen naturally creates a strong, earthy color palette, Wilson explains that the metallic accents break up the neutrals. This ensures the space feels simultaneously zoned and dynamic, capturing the bright energy of the season. 'In color-rich kitchens, texture can break up bold blocks of color and help zone different areas,' she says.

'It is all about mixing different textured surfaces, from exposed brick to wood and stone. If you don’t have these materials to hand, they can be replicated through the use of tiles, both on your walls and kitchen floors.'

Wooden features and mixed materials are famously shaping how we approach kitchen design this summer, but metallic accents are proving to be similarly essential for the year ahead. Kravitz has primarily introduced stainless steel through his countertops, but there is no need to stop there. To elevate your decor even further, Wilson recommends choosing a luxury metallic feature to bring an extra layer of interest to the heart of the home.

'It's all about reinventing the roaring 20s in our home, and what better way than adding a statement piece to our kitchens in the form of a luxe metallic backsplash?' she says.

'Backsplashes are often one of the first things you notice when you enter a kitchen, so it is important to think carefully about how to make it count. The ongoing trend for luxe metals means there are some eye-catching tile designs available. If you do decide to add a metallic backsplash, our recommendation is to play to the material's strength by adding backlighting or downlighting to make the most of the glamour it affords.'
