I Tried All 3 Options From El Jannah’s New Lunch Range And Have Seen The Face Of God

To misquote Ron Weasley, when it comes to workplace lunches, I’ve tried the lot.

On one end of the scale, I’ve sacrificed my Sundays in an effort to be organised and meal prep. On the other hand, I’ve dropped half my salary on sad sushi that barely hit the spot.

So when a little birdy — and by birdy I mean every single coworker I have — started talking non-stop about the new $14 El Jannah Lebanese lunch deals, I was intrigued. Were they tasty? Healthy? Enough food for just such little coin or potentially even too much, risking a midday food coma?

I wanted to try them but like a lot of you, I’ve been looking for a little fun and whimsy in my life. It’s been a touch too serious around these parts. So, rather than being some average Joe and trying a meal each day I’m in the office, I planned a little something different: a feast.

This challenge was one the likes of which only MrBeast or the host of Hot Ones could reckon with. Trying the whole lunch range in one sitting, followed by an arvo at my desk, smashing out this article (wow, so meta).

Could I survive? Only time, Gaviscon and three chicken wraps would tell.

Challenge accepted: eating the menu

I arrived at El Jannah with a healthy appetite and plenty of excitement. A new lunch option was calling me, and boy, was I going to answer.

The lunch range offers three new wraps for $12 each on their lonesome, or $14 with chips and a drink: The Crispy Special, The Tawouk Tabouli and The Tawouk Fattoush. As a tabouli lover, I knew which one I had my eye on, but I wasn’t there to play favourites.

I decided to have a bite of each so I could pick my favourite and work out my eating order from there (if you don’t eat your meals like this BTW, you’re doing it wrong). Instantly, I fell in love with the stunning pickle and Tawouk chicken combo. Crispy chicken tenders may be a fan fave, but charcoal-grilled will always be the GOAT if you ask me.

I decided to eat The Tawouk Fattoush first, since the fresh fattoush salad had me feeling healthy. However, I made the fatal flaw of snacking on chips while I planned my attack and suddenly, I was fighting for my life with two wraps to go.

You’ve never seen someone with chicken for an opp before, but here we are.

I ploughed on, diving into The Crispy Special, which had a killer chicken tender, slaw and pickle combo. The sweet and spicy sauce gave a little pep in my step, as did the iced tea I got with my meal deal, but all too soon, I was reaching the end of the warm Lebanese bread and was still a whole wrap away from glory.

Finally, I only had one to go and it was the one I’d been the most excited for. Why oh why had I left my sweet Tawouk Tabouli till last? The tabouli salad? Perfection. The pickle? To die for? The chips inside? My sweat was steadily becoming chicken salt.

But I persevered and succeeded! The lunch range was bested, and I finally proved you can truly do anything you put your mind to. TED Talk, ready when you are.

Final thoughts?

As a girlie who’s over the meal prep grind and is sick to death of the daily café stroll, looking for something reliable to eat, this will be going to the top of my list.

Fresh and flavourful food that doesn’t break the bank? Yeah, I’m down for that. If you are too, the Legendary Lebanese range is available nationally from 11 am to 4 pm daily.

Of course, I don’t know if I’d recommend eating the entire menu halfway through your workday. Heading back to the office and trying to sit upright at my desk was its own unique challenge, although I guess you are reading this article, so it can’t have gone too bad.
