Hundreds of Stanford students walk out of Google CEO’s commencement speech

  • Around 200 students walked out of Google CEO Sundar Pichai 's commencement speech at Stanford University .
  • The students protested Google's involvement in Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion deal providing cloud computing and AI services to the Israeli government and military.
  • Protesters chanted “free, free Palestine” and waved Palestinian flags as they exited the ceremony.
  • Pichai had previously stated that Google is not a place to 'fight over disruptive issues or debate politics' in response to internal backlash over Project Nimbus.
  • Following the walkout, students organized their own People's Commencement featuring pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil as the keynote speaker.
