With the Monument of Triumph update, Destiny 2 introduced an Exotic mission that continues Bael’s story. This time, he’s after a Weapon of Sorrow, Cull’s Shadow, that belonged to Dredgen Cull and is hidden on the Moon.
Here’s how to unlock the Oblation: Bloodline secret Exotic mission in Destiny 2 and get the Cull’s Shadow Exotic fusion rifle.
How to unlock Oblation: Bloodline Exotic mission in Destiny 2
Complete The Scarlet Keep strike
The first step is to complete The Scarlet Keep strike on any difficulty. Launch the strike from the Moon or through the Portal. Before launching the strike, bring any Weapon of Sorrow. Weapons of Sorrow include Osteo Striga, Thorn, Necrochasm, and Touch of Malice.
In the final boss fight, there are three Hive seals on the main gate. Defeat Hashladûn and equip a Weapon of Sorrow to spawn three runes around the arena. Shoot them using a Weapon of Sorrow to unlock the gate. Walk through it, turn right to find a Hive crystal, and interact with it.
only use it for the runes:You don’t have to use the Weapon of Sorrow throughout the strike. Equip it after defeating the boss, and the runes will appear.
Investigate four Hive crystals on the Moon
Next, you need to interact with four more crystals on the Moon. To locate them, you can use the Suspicious Syndicate Activity circles. Within the circle, you have a Soulfire Network Frequency bar that points to cursed Cabal corpses with hints of where to look for crystals. The closer you are, the stronger the signal.
trail of corpses:Throughout this step, follow the Totality Division corpses to help navigate the structures.
Monarch’s shrine
The first crystal is in the Archer’s Line. Head into the canyon on the northeast side to find an entrance into a Hive structure. Follow the path until you find an open area with a squad of Totality Division and a Totality Sapper miniboss.
The area has a locked door with Hive seals, much like in The Scarlet Keep strike. Clear the enemies, equip a Weapon of Sorrow, and shoot the right runes, from top to bottom. This opens the door with a Hive crystal behind it.
Princely temple
The second crystal is in the Anchor of Light area. Follow the trail of Cabal bodies into the Hive structure on the east side of the map. Inside the structure, there’s a fresh hole in the wall with dead Cabal around it. Head inside, clear the enemies, use the Weapon of Sorrow to open another door, and interact with the crystal.
Nocturnal Chamber
The third crystal is in Hellmouth. From the corpse that you can track with Soulfire Network Frequency, head to the right and down the stairs into The Gatehouse. Keep heading down into the Circle of Bones and follow the corpses to the right. In the World’s Grave, go right into the dark tunnel.
At the end of the tunnel, there’s a Totality Division squad protecting another locked door. Clear the enemies, use the Weapon of Sorrow to open the door, and interact with the crystal.
Sorrowful Revelation
The final crystal is in Sorrow’s Harbor, in the K1 Revelation Lost Sector. In the boss room, there’s a new door locked by Hive seals on the right side. Shooting the runes opens the door and also summons the Totality Division. Interact with the Hive crystal to proceed to the next step.
How to complete Oblation: Bloodline Exotic mission in Destiny 2
After interacting with all four crystals, a new circle will appear near the entrance to the Scarlet Keep in Sorrow’s Harbor. Pull out the Ghost to track the Exotic marker and use a tunnel to the right of the Keep’s entrance to reach it.
The mission itself is straightforward. In the opening sequence, defeat the Totality Enforcers to interact with the switch and shoot blue fuses around it. To destroy the cooling pillars, shoot all four vents around the pillar. After clearing the pillars and unlocking the control room, use the switch to overload the drill.
Disable the laser, then use the launchpad to jump into the hole it left. Among multiple tunnels, you must reach the top tunnel. In the following open section, use the lanterns to climb to the covered bridge with the light. Jump over the roof to enter the bridge, then look for a hole in the stairs to jump down.
In the room with the soulfire door, melee Soulfire Vessels to collect Soulfire Charges. Bring a Soulfire Charge to each of the three braziers to unlock the door. The next room is the boss fight that also features braziers. During the boss fight, hunt down the Soulfire Vessels and deliver the Soulfire Charges to the brazier the boss is next to.
Defeat the boss and claim the Cull’s Shadow to add another Weapon of Sorrow to your collection. After clearing the boss, don’t leave the mission. Instead, you can unlock the first catalyst, Soulfire Succor, by doing a short mechanic. This also unlocks the next Exotic mission, Oblation: Soulfed.
Cull’s Shadow Exotic fusion rifle in Destiny
Cull’s Shadow is a Kinetic fusion rifle. It has a unique melee that generates Soulfire Charges when you defeat enemies. Firing the weapon while you have Soulfire Charges inflicts corruption that increases damage taken from the weapon’s melee. Defeating targets afflicted by corruption creates soulfire crystals that you can destroy to deal AoE damage.
The weapon has four catalysts:
- Soulfire Succor: Destroying soulfire crystals with this weapon’s frontal blades provides Soulfire Charges and partially reloads the magazine from reserves.
- Soulfire Rancor: Soulfire crystals expel potent corruption when destroyed and automatically detonate when a target is within close proximity.
- Soulfire Zeal: Nearby soulfire crystal detonations increase your damage resistance and movement speed while this weapon is equipped.
- Soulfire Skewer: Nearby soulfire crystal detonations cause this weapon’s frontal blades to inflict corruption.
