4 shot, 1 fatally, in West Side drive-by, police say

Chicago police investigate the scene in the 5300 block of West Madison Street, near where multiple people were shot in the Austin neighborhood on Monday, June 8, 2026.

A man was killed and three other men were injured in a drive-by shooting Monday evening in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, according to Chicago police.

They were on a sidewalk around 7:25 p.m. in the first block of North Lockwood Avenue when an SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said in a statement.

A 32-year-old man was shot in his face and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A 27-year-old man — who police initially said was 15 — was shot in the leg and taken to Mount Sinai in fair condition, police said.

A man, 34, was struck in his leg and taken to the same hospital in critical condition, police said.

Another man, 36, was struck in his flank and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Police reported no arrests.
