At the center of the story is Shaurya Shikhar, a 26-year-old professional who once believed his future had been derailed after failing to clear the IIT-JEE examination. Today, he earns a seven-figure monthly income and recently gifted his father a BMW worth ₹55 lakh to celebrate his retirement.
A Time When Everything Seemed Lost
Sharing Shaurya's story, Warikoo reflected on the struggles the young man faced five years ago.
“Five years ago, Shaurya Shikhar thought his life was over. This year, he bought his dad a 55L BMW as a retirement gift,” Warikoo wrote.
According to him, the setback felt particularly painful because Shaurya's father was an IIT graduate. Unable to secure admission through IIT-JEE, Shaurya chose to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) instead.
However, the transition was far from easy. Warikoo revealed that Shaurya battled self-doubt, dissatisfaction, and uncertainty about his future.
“He weighed 110+ kgs. Felt like he let down his parents. Hated his college. Was convinced his life won't work out,” Warikoo recalled.
A Remarkable Transformation
The years that followed brought dramatic changes.
Today, Shaurya has built a successful career, earning a seven-figure salary every month. His financial success recently enabled him to purchase a BMW worth ₹55 lakh as a retirement gift for his father.
Warikoo highlighted that the achievement was backed by strong financial discipline rather than reckless spending.
“Cut to this year, Shaurya bought a 55L BMW for his dad as a retirement gift. He earns 7 figures every month. The down payment of the car would be less than 5% of his net worth. The EMI would be less than 7% of his monthly salary. Plus, he is his fittest self now!” he wrote.
Yet, Warikoo emphasized that the story was never meant to be about money.
“This post isn't about money. It's about a thought that arrives late, but always arrives.”
The Lesson: Keep Moving Forward
Beyond the milestones and material success, Warikoo used Shaurya's journey to reflect on the challenge of staying hopeful during difficult times.
“Life eventually works out. But it doesn't help to know that, when you have failed,” he wrote.
Instead, he argued that progress often comes from persistence rather than certainty.
“Here is what helped me: KEEP MOVING! If we all believe that life will eventually work out, the only thing we can do is to keep moving.”
The message resonated widely with social media users, many of whom shared their own experiences of overcoming setbacks.
Social Media Reacts
The post generated a wave of responses from users who found Shaurya's story deeply relatable.
One user wrote, “The line ‘Knowing that life will eventually work out would NOT have helped on those dark days’ hits hard. When you're at your lowest, optimism feels fake, but action feels real. Proud of Shaurya for choosing to keep moving.”
Another commented, “One of the biggest traps in life is believing today's circumstances are permanent. Most success stories look inevitable in hindsight but uncertain in real time. The people who win aren't those who never feel lost—they're the ones who keep moving despite it.”
A third user added, “Every successful person has a chapter where things looked uncertain. The difference is that they didn't mistake that chapter for the whole story.”
Another echoed the sentiment, saying, “We often overestimate the importance of one exam, one rejection, or one bad phase. But life is usually shaped by what happens after that moment. Keep moving. That's where the real story begins.”
More Than an Exam Result
Shaurya Shikhar's journey serves as a reminder that a single setback—even one as significant as failing a highly competitive examination—does not define a person's future. While success may not arrive immediately, persistence, growth, and the willingness to keep moving forward can often lead to outcomes far beyond what once seemed possible.
