Footage captures alleged bottle shop robber kicking down door in broad daylight

Police are on the hunt for a young man and woman following an alleged armed robbery at a bottle shop at Kippax on Monday.

ACT Policing said about 3.40pm on June 8, 2026, a male and female attended a bottle shop at Kippax.

The male entered the store while the female waited at the entrance, holding the door open.

The store attendant confronted the pair, and they both ran from the business. The attendant closed and locked the doors but the male returned.

CCTV footage captures the male pushing and kicking the glass panel of the door until it breaks.

The male then entered the store allegedly armed with a machete and threatened the store attendant whilst demanding bottles of alcohol from behind the counter.

He stole multiple bottles of alcohol before leaving the scene, police said.

The incident was reported to police and investigations are continuing.

Police are requesting that witnesses who have not yet spoken to police contact Crime Stoppers via the Crime Stoppers ACT website or on 1800 333 000 by quoting reference number 8409406. Information can be provided anonymously.
