Destiny: Rising is a gacha game, and while you can still farm for god roll weapons, there’s one more thing you need to grind to make your characters as strong as possible. Artifacts provide passive stat increases to your characters, and there’s a level of RNG involved to get the best ones.
If you’re new to the gacha world, here’s a quick rundown on how Artifacts work in Destiny: Rising and how to farm them.

How Artifacts work in Destiny Rising
Effects and stats

Each character has four Artifact slots, with each slot having a unique Artifact pool. Artifacts range in rarity, depending on where you are in terms of progression, with Exotic being the rarest.
Unlike many gacha games, there are no Artifact set bonuses in Destiny: Rising. You don’t have to match pieces from the same set to get a power spike. Instead, you can focus on individual Artifacts and their stats that work best for your character.
Each Artifact in Destiny: Rising has:
- Power: Total Power you get from the piece.
- Gear level: Item’s level that increases Power and base Attributes’ numbers.
- Star Tier: Higher Star Tiers further increase the Attributes’ numbers.
- Attributes: Stats that boost the character’s damage, defense, etc.
- Attribute score: Artifact stats’ cumulative value
- Artifact Perk: Artifact’s unique effect.
The main things you need to look for when choosing Artifacts for a character are the Artifact Perk and Attributes.
Artifact perks

The Artifact perk is a unique effect that should synergize with the character’s gameplay. For example, Nimble Veil reduces damage taken for three seconds when casting movement abilities. It works well with Wolf because their Wolf’s Strike movement ability can instantly recharge if you get a kill, providing constant uptime on Artifact buffs.
In the top-right of the Artifacts screen, there’s a Recommended tab with generally good Artifacts for that character. However, an Artifact may require a certain playstyle to work, like standing still for increased damage, so double-check what it does before farming.
Attributes

Each Artifact, depending on rarity, has up to four random attributes, and you want to keep pieces with stats that make sense for your character. To find which stats work for your character, open the Relic Abilities menu and select the underlined values to see the stats they scale with.
The game also highlights good Artifacts with silver and gold thumbs-up icons, but sometimes a silver stat might be just as good as a gold one. For example, if you’re running double Solar weapons on Jaren, a Solar Boost will be a great stat to have.
Star Tier

Increasing the Artifact’s Star Tier increases the attribute multipliers. There are five Star Tiers, and upgrading them requires Artifactual Dust or other Artifacts. Some Artifacts may drop at a higher Star Tier, but most of the time, you must upgrade them yourself.
Artifact refactor

Artifact Refactor allows you to increase attribute values (not the stats themselves) and squeeze a little bit more stats and Power out of every piece. With every refactor, the stats get upgrades randomly, and you can repeat the process until all stats are maxed out.
Fully upgrading an Artifact requires a lot of resources, so only commit to it once you have the best Attributes.
How to get Artifacts in Destiny Rising

Artifacts come from the Realm of the IX adventures in Destiny: Rising. You can play three activities to get new Artifacts, including some one-time rewards and farmable activities.
Here are all the Realm of the IX activities:
- Singularity: Order
- Singularity: Chaos
- The Expanse
Singularity: Order is a series of one-time levels you can complete to get to know different types of gifts/buffs you can obtain. These activities award Artifact Engrams, which you can decipher to get an Artifact of your choice, including a few Exotic Artifacts at higher stages.
Singularity: Chaos is a farmable roguelite activity, where you complete multiple stages of random rooms and pick up buffs along the way. Every day, there are different featured Essences of Chaos and shield modifiers that affect gameplay and the best character to use for farming.
Before starting a run of Singularity: Chaos, you can also select which artifacts you want, increasing their chance of dropping.
The Expanse is a multi-stage endgame activity that resets every season. There are 12 stages for every weapon type (Rapid-Fire, Spread, Piercing, and Impact), offering Lumina Leves, Exotic Artifact Engrams, random Artifacts, and more.
