DC boss says Supergirl will return in Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow: "She's a major part of what we're doing"

Milly Alcock as Supergirl in a behind the scenes featurette.

DC co-CEO Peter Safran has confirmed that Milly Alcock will indeed return as Supergirl in the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow.

"She's a major part of what we're doing," Safran told Variety.

Alcock made her DCU debut as Supergirl in 2025's Superman, where she's Clark Kent's hungover cousin who stops by the Fortress of Solitude to pick up Krypto (her dog, not Superman's). Supergirl, which hits theaters in June, follows Kara Zor-El as she and a young girl named Ruthye embark on an intergalactic quest for revenge after Ruthye's father is killed by Krem of the Yellow Hills. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the cast includes Eve Ridley as Rutheye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem.

Man of Tomorrow will pick up after the events of Supergirl, and sees Superman and Lex Luthor come together (reluctantly, of course) in order to defeat a global threat that's bigger than both of them combined... Braniac. And seeing as we're still at the very beginning of James Gunn and Peter Safran's new and improved DCU, there's still plenty more Supergirl appearances to come. After Supergirl, the next project on the docket is Lanterns... which is part of the DCU proper (as opposed to Elseworlds, where Robert Pattinson's Batman exists) despite being a much different tone (in my opinion) than Superman.

Supergirl hits theaters on June 26. For more, check out our guide to all the upcoming DC movies and shows that are currently in the works.
