Bus to nowhere? City launches 'Line Zero' on the streets

A new bus route has recently been inaugurated in the town of Baden near Zurich. That alone would hardly merit a mention in the national media. But this bus is seen as having artistic value, according to the town hall.

Artists Frank and Patrik Riklin have created Line Zero, which runs without a timetable and without a set destination. It is a kind of moving installation, reports the portal 20min.ch.

The town authorities, the two artists and the Baden-Wettingen regional transport operator (RVBW) want to rethink public transport. Instead of getting to your destination as fast as possible, the focus is on travelling together as a group.

The sign above the front of the bus really does read "Line Zero". That way, locals and visitors in Baden know that this public transport bus is not necessarily the quickest way of getting from A to B, but rather a kind of creative detour through the town. In return, it offers new experiences and a journey without time pressure.
