The government on Sunday sponsored the ordination of 100 people in homage to the late HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati.

The ceremony for mourners was held at Wat Rajabopit, and followed the passing of the princess on Thursday.

PM's Office permanent secretary Yupha Taweewattanakitborvon oversaw the event, representing the government .

The government-sponsored programme remains open and mourners can still be ordained until June 29 at four other temples, the Public Relations Department said. They are Wat Bovoranives Vihara, Wat Rajapradit, Wat Debsirin and Wat Buranasiri Mattayaram.

The new monks will study dharma and meditation at Wat Rajabopit and later at the Meditation Studies Institute of the Supreme Patriarch in Lam Luk Ka district in Pathum Thani.

The country is observing a 15-day mourning period, from Friday, for the late princess.
