Who was Stewart McLean? ‘Arrow’ and ‘Virgin River’ actor’s remains found amid homicide investigation; chilling details emerge as probe continues

The remains of missing actor Stewart McLean, 45, were identified one day after authorities announced he was possibly the victim of a homicide. In a media release shared with PEOPLE, Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) confirmed on Friday, May 22, that McLean’s remains were located in Lions Bay, British Columbia.

McLean had last been seen at his residence in Lions Bay on Friday, May 15. The Squamish RCMP received a missing person report on Monday, May 18, prompting the investigation that led to the discovery.

"As the investigation continues to unfold, homicide investigators are working to collect and analyze evidence, review CCTV footage, and conduct interviews to build a timeline of Mr. McLean's activities prior to May 15, 2026,” IHIT Cpl. Esther Tupper said in a press statement, as quoted by PEOPLE. “We are pursuing all available leads as we work to find answers for the family, friends, and loved ones of Mr. McLean," his statement continued.

The press release also stated that the police department and its partners had been working to find McLean "from the onset of the missing persons investigation." It is believed that McLean's disappearance is "an isolated incident."

Lucas Talent Inc. confirmed McLean's death in a statement on Facebook written by talent agent Jodi Caplan. "It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved client, Stew McLean," the statement said. "I was fortunate to have worked with Stew for more than 10 years."

"He was always such a pleasure to deal with — dedicated, professional, eager, and endlessly funny," the statement continued. "Many casting directors have reached out to share their condolences with Stew's family and with our agency, and every message says the same thing: what a truly great guy he was and how deeply he will be missed. Rest in peace, Stew. xo"
