What to know about Freedom 250 as artists pull out of Trump’s concert

  • The “Great American State Fair” - a series of concerts and exhibits - is scheduled to take place from 25 June to 10 July on Washington’s National Mall.
  • The event was organised by Freedom 250, an organisation launched by Donald Trump and headed by his State Department appointee, Keith Krach.
  • Initially, performers such as Bret Michaels, The Commodores, Martina McBride, Morris Day, and Young MC were announced for the event.
  • However, these artists subsequently withdrew, stating they were misled about the event's nonpartisan nature or found it had become divisive.
  • As of Friday morning, Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice were still expected to perform, while Freedom 250 organisers have not commented on the withdrawals.
