Watch live as King Charles delivers the King's Speech at the state opening of Parliament on Wednesday (13 May) as Sir Keir Starmer faces a battle to stay on as prime minister.
Several ministers, including Jess Phillips and Alex Davies-Jones, have resigned and implored the PM “to act in the country’s interest and set out a timetable for your departure.”
At least 80 Labour MPs have called for a leadership change, but more than 100 backed Sir Keir and urged him not to stand down as “this is no time for a leadership contest”.
The King's Speech, which will lay out the government’s legislative priorities for the next Parliamentary session, will include policies on immigration, green energy, and reforms to special educational needs and disabilities (Send) schooling.
Charles will read the speech in the House of Lords before MPs and peers.
It will also include new laws to make it easier to take action against state-backed groups, such as the proscription of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
