Vickrum Digwa 999 call in full as he lies to police about racial attack from Henry Nowak

The 999 call made in which murderer Vickrum Digwa claimed that Henry Nowak racially abused him has been released in full.

Police bodycam footage shows that Mr Nowak was handcuffed while he lay dying after Digwa told officers he had racially abused him. Mr Nowak says, “I’ve been stabbed,” to which an officer replies, “Don’t think you have, mate.”

Audio released by the Crown Prosecution Service captures Digwa telling police that Mr Nowak was “drunk” and “laid a punch” onto him.

“He starts recording me, I snatch his phone, he’s then laid a punch onto me, he pushed me about, and my turban came off, he then started grabbing my head, so I then grabbed him, and then he started pushing me, attacking me even further,” Digwa added.

In sentencing remarks, Judge William Mousley KC said Mr Nowak “was not drunk but may have been affected a little by the small amount of alcohol he had consumed over the previous few hours.”

Vickrum Digwa’s brother, Gurpreet Digwa, tells a call operator that his sibling had been the victim of racial abuse from Mr Nowak.

“We’re Sikhs, and we wear turbans, and he has attacked my brother,” Gurpreet Digwa says.

Vickrum Digwa, 23, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years for the murder of Mr Nowak at Southampton Crown Court on Monday (1 June).
