A public health alert has been issued for frozen dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets sold across the US under Walmart’s Great Value brand due to concerns about lead contamination.

The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) warned that the product could contain five times the interim reference level of lead for children, with no amount considered safe.

The affected product is labelled 'Great Value Fully Cooked Dino Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets' with a 'best if used by' date of February 10, 2027, lot code '0416DPO1215', and establishment number 'P44164'.

The product has been removed from sale and is not being recalled, but the FSIS advises consumers to dispose of the nuggets or return them for a refund.

Lead exposure is particularly dangerous for infants, young children, and pregnant women, potentially causing harm to developing brains and nervous systems.
