TWO people have been arrested after a “car meet-up” involving around 700 vehicles in Aberdeen.

Police went to the scene in Garthdee Road on Saturday evening following multiple calls from members of the public reporting serious disorder in the area.

Two men, aged 25 and 28, were arrested in connection with an alleged road traffic offence and alleged drugs offences, police said.

Police said officers issued 14 vehicles with prohibitions due to dangerous conditions, while eight vehicles were issued with defect notices and three vehicles were seized in connection with alleged driving without insurance.

Officers said 58 offences relating to construction, use and MOT offences were dealt with by fixed penalty notices.

Sergeant Dan Baird from Road Policing said: “While the majority of attendees behaved, it is disappointing to see such a high number of road traffic offences, with more expected over the coming days and weeks.

“Driving in an antisocial manner is extremely dangerous, illegal and also has a negative impact on the local community.”

Police said they had been made aware of the event earlier in the week

Officers are continuing to look at CCTV footage and said it is expected that they will identify further offences in the coming weeks.

Constable Craig Scott from the Community Policing Team said: “We understand that people are passionate about their cars, however, these sorts of meet-ups cannot continue at the expense of people’s safety or the surrounding communities.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0627 of May 27 2026.
