Storage Wars star lashes out at ‘cyberbullies’ who ‘tormented’ Darrell Sheets before his death

Darrell Sheets’s Storage Wars co-star René Nezhoda has shared a powerful warning after Sheets’s death Wednesday.

Sheets was found dead at the age of 67 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, from an apparent suicide.

Nicknamed “The Gambler,” Sheets appeared in dozens of episodes over 15 seasons of the A+E Networks reality show and was known for his rivalry with Nezhoda.

However, in a video shared to Instagram in the wake of Sheets’s death, Nezhoda spoke about the mutual respect they shared.

“He was a very hard worker that cared more than anyone I’ve ever met about their family, about his son, about Zoe [his granddaughter], pretty much [all the] people in his life,” the Storage Wars star said.

Nezhoda also claimed that Sheets had faced intense cyberbullying before his death.

“Rest in peace Darrell Sheets. Also I know Darrell would want something positive out of this, so he had a guy that [was] really really tormenting him lately. Cyberbullying,” he said.

“Guys, just because you watch us on television, doesn’t mean you know us,” Nezhoda continued. “It doesn’t mean you know what we’re about. Also, it doesn’t entitle you to bully somebody. That’s not [just] us, that’s anybody. That’s any athlete. You shouldn’t cyberbully at all.

“As a matter of fact, if you have somebody in your life that thinks it’s funny to cyberbully other people, may that be a celebrity, athlete or little girl at school… slap ’em in the back of the head. Make them become a better human being,” he urged.

“You never know what demons somebody faces and what they go through and what you might push them through,” he concluded. “Darrell has been posting a lot about the guy that has been cyberbullying and torturing him and I really hope they look into that guy and that’s just not a pass. It’s just not right, guys. Be better.”

Sgt. Kyle Ridgway, a public information officer for the Lake Havasu City Police Department, told Page Six on Wednesday that authorities “are aware of these cyberbullying accusations and that is a part of the active investigation.”

In a press release, police stated that they dispatched officers to a private residence at around 2 a.m. in response to reports of a “deceased individual.”

The release continued: “The body was ultimately turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation... This incident remains under active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

Sheets was born on May 13, 1958 and spent over 30 years in the storage hunting business. He previously worked in landscaping.

He appeared in the first season of Storage Wars in 2010 and remained a key member of the cast until 2023. The series was filmed in California, where storage lockers can be auctioned off is rent is not paid for 36 days. The show follows professional buyers who purchase lockers in the hope of turning a profit.

Sheets suffered a heart attack in 2019 and retired to Arizona, where he ran an antique store called Show Me Your Junk.
