Second day of London Tube strike to go ahead amid travel chaos

  • A second London Underground strike is anticipated to cause further disruption across the city's transport system on Thursday.
  • Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport ( RMT ) union are proceeding with the planned walkout despite last-minute talks with Transport for London (TfL).
  • Nick Dent, director of customer operations on the London Underground for Transport for London, told BBC Radio London there was little chance of averting the second strike action.
  • Mr Dent said: “We did agree together that talks would continue next week, but unfortunately, the RMT made clear to us yesterday they had made the decision to go ahead with both days this week.”
  • Normal service is expected on Wednesday and Friday.
