For Ruth Langsford, this Easter is all about the colourful, sunny daffodil - and it’s the inspiration behind the vibrant seasonal sideboard she has created this year.
Her display is surprisingly simple and easy to replicate, especially as it’s built around the daffodil - a very in-season, affordable flower. So it’s not too late to put together yourself, and give your home a lovely touch of spring alongside the show-stopping Easter treats you might have whipped up.
Ruth - aptly dressed in a suitably springy yellow V-neck jumper from her range at QVC - took to her social media to share a video putting together her Easter sideboard, and despite being armed with boxes of decorations she said she had "kept things a bit simpler this year and let the daffodils do the talking… I just love them, they really do say spring!"
Spring Sideboard Ideas
The perfect companion for daffodils, tulips and any other beautiful blooms, this whimsical hand-painted vase with mustard stripes would make a joyful addition to any sideboard - with or without flowers.
A chicken candle is for life, not just spring. This gorgeous green decorative piece is ideal for Easter and seasonal displays, and with hints of coconut, ginger and pomelo, it will make your house smell gorgeous too!
Nothing says spring quite like this stunning lamp from Pooky - it has 'leaves' literally stuck all around it. Keep your displays lit up with this beautiful investment piece that will keep your house looking stylish and feeling cosy all year round.
This luxurious reed diffuser inspired by the plants at Kew Gardens is a perfect addition to your home for spring - and you can keep it well into summer.
With its geometric design and textured glass, this vase would be a great statement piece on a sideboard. Like Ruth, consider adding vases of different size and shape.
Light and neutral, this wave tray would be a great addition, filled with flowers or other seasonal accessories.
Another takeaway from Ruth's video is just how organised she is, keeping all of her bits safe in wicker storage baskets, all of which she had labelled 'Easter'.
Not only is that a genius way of keeping things tidy and easy to pull out when needed, the wicker baskets are much more aesthetically pleasing than regular plastic storage boxes.
Once opened the baskets, Ruth explained she was going to do things a "little differently" this year, focusing on daffodils as the inspiration for her sideboard. She said, "Now you might have noticed I've always got daffodils in the kitchen. As soon as the daffodils are out, I'm on it.
"I absolutely love them. They just say spring. They say Easter. So, this has been my inspiration."
If you’ve similarly got a love for the daffodil at this time of year, but you’re worried they might start to droop or wilt before you can show off your own Easter sideboard, there’s a simple sap hack florists use to prolong blooms.
Ruth then goes about preparing her table, offering a look at a selection of felt rabbit figures (which appears to be this flocked bunny from Ocado), little chicks, and decorated eggs that she nestled inside various flowers.
Flanked by bouquets of daffodils in vases of different sizes and shape, the sideboard offers a burst of colour that would look amazing in any room.
Even if you don't have a sideboard, you could easily do something similar, decorating any space on the top of a shelf or a bookcase, a table or even a section of your kitchen worktop.
It'll reinvigorate your home just for the season and you might be inspired to try out more seasonal styles in the future.
