Thousands of Arsenal fans lined the streets of north London as the club celebrated their Premier League title triumph with a trophy parade near the Emirates Stadium.
Returning home after the disappointment of losing the Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday night, Arsenal supporters were still in a jubilant mood as they celebrated a first Premier League triumph in 22 years, lining the streets around the Emirates Stadium and filling the air with deafening roars and bright red smoke.
It was not to be last night for Mikel Arteta’s men, left to rue a cruel ending to a Champions League final of fine margins as PSG claimed back-to-back European crowns. Gabriel Magalhaes sent his spot-kick over the bar after a tense shootout settled a tight contest in Budapest, with the holders emerging 4-3 victors on penalties after extra time.
It was a result, and performance, from which Arsenal could take both encouragement and insight into where improvement is needed. Follow all of the latest with our live blog below:

Declan Rice vowed Arsenal will be “coming back for more” next season after losing his voice during a frenzied trophy parade that was attended by hundreds of thousands of supporters in north London.
Rice, who said he lost his voice after rapping Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby and leading a chant of “set-piece ole ole ole”, said he was “speechless” by the scenes of celebration. “Seeing the joy we can give people is crazy,” said the midfielder, who will be joining up with England on Monday ahead of the World Cup. “But next year we’re coming back for more. Get locked in or get locked out.”

Fans out in force

It really is staggering just how many Arsenal fans are out and about today. There are a lot of them, of course, and a pleasant Sunday certainly helps, but there are still throngs and throngs of people out there even with the parade portion of the day having concluded.

David Raya finished the season with the most clean sheets in the Premier League for a third time, and thanked his teammates for their part in his and Arsenal’s success.
“I trust every single player on this team and they make my life much easier. Of course I try to be there for the team as always. I think throughout this season, the whole campaign we’ve defended very well and that helped us achieve what we have achieved.”

The Arsenal fans walked after the buses after they had passed them by, following the parade down Upper Street as if they were on a pilgrimage. This is a day that Arsenal fans will remember for a long, long time; the sort of occasion that is fitting for the end of a 22-year wait .The Arsenal players have now returned to the Emirates, two-and-a-half hours after they set off!

The number of Arsenal fans has appeared to swell again as the buses turn past Highbury and Islington station and drive back towards the Emirates, where the parade will finish. There isn’t an ‘end point’, as such, to avoid overcrowding at a certain spot, but it appears many people have picked Highbury corner as the ‘go-to’ place to congregate.

The Arsenal buses have almost finished their route along Essex Road and will shortly be turning back up Upper Street and towards the Emirates.

Arsenal’s women’s team are also part of the celebrations. They won the Champions League last year, beating Barcelona to become champions of Europe for a second time, and added to that triumph by lifting the Fifa Champions Cup at the Emirates in January. The defeated the South American club champions, the Brazilian side Corinthians, in extra time to became world champions in January. England stars Leah Williamson, Alessia Russo and Chloe Kelly are all on the bus taking part in the display before they join up with the Lionesses on Monday ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Spain and Iceland.

The amount of flares and red smoke means fans are having to squint through the red mist to get a look at the players. The parade is taking place today, just a day after the Champions League final, because many players in the team will be departing for the World Cup tomorrow. Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, for example, join up with England on Monday morning.

Fans further along the route are patiently awaiting the arrival of the Arsenal team. Supporters are quickly dispersing once the buses drive part, before attempting to catch up with them again further along the route.

This is a the sort of day where you really realise just far Arsenal’s support extends, far, far beyond the 60,000 fans who are able to attend home games at the Emirates.

Fireworks and confetti fill the air as the Arsenal teams continue their route along Holloway Road. I’m not sure the streets of north London have ever seen scenes like this! With hundreds and thousands of people turning out in Islington, the aerial view, revealing the scale of the celebrations, is extraordinary.

The buses are slowly moving around the Emirates and towards Holloway Road, which is flooded with Arsenal fans and is going to be one of the busiest spots on the route.
The roar as the Arsenal buses make their way past the crowds is deafening: fans are screaming at the top of their lungs, with red smoke pouring out of the flares.

There’s a wide smile on the face of Declan Rice, who wore in the captain’s armband in last night’s Champions League final penalty shoot-out against PSG. Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and goalkeeper David Raya, all so key to Arsenal’s defensive record in winning the Premier League are also stood at the front of the bus, as if they have been asked to protect the trophy.

They will go over the bridge beside Drayton Park station, which is where the long line of Arsenal fans gathered on the streets of north London begins.
Thousands are crammed along the parade route, after arriving hours ago to grab the best vantage points. Many have climbed trees or traffic lights.

“Back to back” read the message projected on to Budapest’s elegantly historic main train station, Keleti palyaudvar. It was in English, though perhaps it should have been in French, with the faces of Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia beneath the words. It is Paris Saint-Germain who have gone back to back.
With a couple of different penalties, it could have been Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice’s images there. Instead, after Arsenal’s Champions League final defeat, their faces were seen only in the bowels of the Puskas Arena.

Mikel Arteta has insisted that Arsenal will use their Champions League final defeat as “fuel” for the future, with a Premier League trophy parade to come this afternoon.
“First of all, you have to go through that pain, digest it and turn it into fuel to improve and to reach a different level,” he explained last night.
“I will take a few days with my family and then I will start the process to review what we’ve done.
“We will start to make some very important decisions if we want to reach another level “And we’re going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it. But it’s going to demand us to be very, very ambitious, very fast and very smart.”
Marquinhos eyes Champions League three-peat for PSG
12:25 , Harry Latham-Coyle
Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has already set his sights on a Champions League hat-trick.
The Ligue 1 giants ended a string of near-misses to claim their first Champions League crown 12 months ago and made it a double on Saturday night after overcoming Arsenal on penalties in the final.
Of PSG’s 11 starters and five substitutes who played in Budapest, only Brazilian centre-back Marquinhos and Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz are in their 30s, with the club boasting one of the youngest squads in Europe.
And Marquinhos wants them to continue making history.
“It’s unbelievable, we are living the dream,” he said in quotes on the club’s website. “We have to keep moving in the right direction to continue to experience these great moments. We have a very young squad, we can win a third in a row.”

'Devastated' Declan Rice insists Arsenal will be back
10:35 , Harry Latham-Coyle
A “devastated” Declan Rice insisted Arsenal will not be defined by their Champions League defeat to Paris St Germain – and vowed to use the emotional agony as fuel to win the competition next season.
Arsenal’s bid to end their 140-year wait for the biggest trophy in European club football ended in failure after a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.
“The overriding emotion is that we are devastated that we have lost the Champions League final,” said Rice. “Penalty shootouts are a lottery, and we were on the losing end of that. But it doesn’t define us.
“To get the Premier League over the line was a dream come true and to win the Champions League would have been extra special. But it wasn’t meant to be.
“That’s football. We are gutted. We move on. There have been so many top players who took so many years to win their first Champions League and this is the way it is.
“We are going to take that loss, move forward and use these emotions and feelings to go on to win this competition in the future. Seeing that trophy, and seeing them lift that, we want that, we want that success, so we will be back, that’s for sure.”
