North America’s 50 Best Restaurants unveiled with 18 new names on the list

  • The North America ’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 list was unveiled in New Orleans, with Chicago's three-Michelin-starred Smyth, led by husband-and-wife chefs John Shields and Karen Urie Shields, securing the top position.
  • Calgary’s Eight made an impressive debut at No. 2, earning the Highest New Entry Award, while Lincoln’s Restaurant Pearl Morissette ranked No. 3 and received the Art of Hospitality Award.
  • The 2026 list features restaurants from 20 cities across North America, including 14 from Canada and 36 from the United States, with 18 establishments making their first appearance on the ranking.
  • New York City was recognized for individual talent, with Eunji Lee of Lysée named Best Pastry Chef for her French-Korean creations, and industry veteran Aldo Sohm of Le Bernardin awarded Best Sommelier.
  • The influential annual ranking is compiled from the votes of a 300-member Academy of anonymous regional restaurant industry experts, who vote confidentially and adhere to strict integrity guidelines.
