Nika King 'clowned' by own mother after Euphoria return gets cut to 'one line'

Nika King has opened up on her reduced Euphoria return

Nika King was "clowned" by her mother after her Euphoria return was cut to just "one line".

The actress reprised her role as Rue's (Zendaya) mother Leslie in episode six of the ongoing third season of the HBO drama, but most of the phone call was shown from Rue's perspective as the camera only cut briefly cut to Nika as she said "I love you, Rue".

Taking to Instagram, the star laughed: "I just watched the episode that I’ve been promoting all week — and my mom over here is clowning me!

“She said the internet waited all this time for me to just say one line.”

Her mother was heard in the background saying "three years" in a nod to the long gap since season two, which premiered in 2022.

Nika quipped: “Y’all I can’t do nothing but laugh at this. When your mama clown you. I don’t know. “You better be glad I have a sense of humour. You better be glad I’ve got thick skin.”

In another post on Tuesday (19.05.26), the actress shared an image from the scene which failed to make the cut.

She captioned the photo: “This scene didn’t make the cut but when I walked on set and saw this Bible on the table, I got emotional.

“Not as Leslie, but as Nika. Because there have been so many times in my life where all I could do was sit down, open the Word and ask TMH to help me keep going.

"People they don't always see the prayers behind the scenes. The silent tears. The waiting. The moments where you feel overlooked, tired or unsure about what TMH is doing next BUT KEEP TRUSTING HIM. (sic)"

Nika shared Psalms 115, which urges people to "trust in the Lord".

Meanwhile, Nika has made it clear she would love to do more Euphoria as she joked about finding it hard to pay her rent after the long wait for season three.

Speaking during a stand-up comedy set, she quipped: “Season three is coming out … I don’t f****** know. Don’t ask me, I don’t know…

"‘We need season three!’ B****, I need season three! I haven’t paid my rent in six months. And Zendaya’s over in Paris at Fashion Week.

"I’m like, ‘B****, come home! I need you! Mama needs you.’”

However, she later insisted the comments were "a lighthearted joke".

She told The Hollywood Reporter: "My reference about Euphoria during my stand-up tour was a lighthearted joke.

"Most people have seen me portray serious characters on-screen but my roots are in comedy.

“I actually have a few film projects releasing this year that I’m excited about. It’s a blessing to craft a career in both drama and comedy.”
