Airdrieonians have confirmed they have parted company with head coach Aaron Taylor-Sinclair following the club’s relegation to League One.
The Diamonds dropped out of the Championship after a play-off defeat to Gary Naysmith’s Stenhousemuir, ending a difficult campaign despite a late fight to avoid the drop.
Taylor-Sinclair, a former defender, stepped into the role during a turbulent period at the Excelsior Stadium, taking charge after the departures of Rhys McCabe and Danny Lennon.
He had previously served as assistant manager and first-team coach after joining the club from Falkirk in 2022.
In a club statement, Airdrie said: “Following discussions in the aftermath of our recent relegation, the club has made the decision to move in a different direction, and Aaron leaves with our thanks and best wishes for the future.”
The statement also highlighted his contribution across multiple roles, adding: “Joining the club from Falkirk in 2022, Aaron brought experience and versatility to the Diamonds’ defence as the club successfully navigated the play-offs and won promotion to the Championship.

“Renewing his contract in 2023, ‘Sinky’ also took on a first-team coaching role, and a year later was named assistant manager.”
Taylor-Sinclair went on to become interim boss before being appointed head coach at the start of this year, tasked with steering the club clear of relegation.
The club acknowledged the challenges he faced, stating: “As head coach of Airdrie, Aaron battled hard against relegation despite taking charge while the club were in an unfavourable position, ultimately falling short in the play-off semi-final while contending with a host of injuries.”
They added: “Aaron’s talent and professionalism will serve him well in his future career, and everyone at the club wishes him all the best as he moves on.”
During his time at Airdrie, Taylor-Sinclair made 42 appearances and scored once, while also earning seven caps for Antigua and Barbuda.
