Moment British radio station accidentally announces King Charles’ death

A British radio station accidentally announced that King Charles had died live on air.

On Tuesday (19 May), a broadcast from Radio Caroline in Essex said: “We have suspended our normal programmes until further notice as a mark of formal respect following the passing of His Majesty King Charles III.” This was then followed by the national anthem.

The station has since apologised and explained that a computer error at its main studio resulted in the erroneous announcement.

“Caroline has been pleased to broadcast Her Majesty the Queen’s, and now the King’s, Christmas message, and we hope to do so for many years to come. We apologise to HM the King and to our listeners for any distress caused,” said station manager Peter Moore on Facebook.
