Iain Dowie is close with Martin O'Neill - and could see him nurturing Robbie Keane as his Celtic successor.
The former Premier League boss is a golfing friend of O'Neill's and, despite him being haild for the job he did as interim boss, still doesn't think he actually gets the credit he deserves.
It's believed the 74-year-old will sign a one-year deal with the option of another year, and some don't see it as long-term thinking from the Celtc board.
But Dowie believes O'Neill will be "around for a while" - and could even see him moulding the man who was up against him for the job as a future boss.

He told Betano Casino: “Martin is a friend of mine, I’ve played a bit of golf with him.
“In the situations he came into both times at Celtic, it was very difficult. I think he’s done an outstanding job, no doubt. He provides stability, continuity, and proven success at Celtic.
“I don’t think it’s as easy a club to manage as people consider. There’s a huge amount of pressure.
"I think Martin will be around for a while. And perhaps he can nurture and guide a younger man, someone of Robbie Keane’s ilk. So, let’s see.”
