Paul Scholes has encouraged Marcus Rashford to consider a move to Premier League champions Arsenal , with his future at Barcelona severely under threat.
Rashford has made it clear he would prefer to stay at Barcelona after helping the Spanish giants claim another La Liga title, notching 14 goals and 10 assists during his season- long loan from Manchester United.
It also looked as though Barcelona were poised to activate the clause to permanently buy Rashford for £26 million, but have since signed Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, who plays in the same position as Rashford, for £70 million.
Rashford remains keen to stay at Barcelona, posting a picture to Instagram with the caption: “Always a pleasure. Season 25/26 hungry for more.”
Scholes believes Rashford could be well served by a return to the Premier League if the La Liga champions have seen enough of him.
”Barcelona have a deal in place to buy him but I think they’re trying to get him cheaper,” Scholes said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast.
”That would be a great move, a great move for both parties. I think Arsenal would be a great move for him and the club.”
The former United midfielder also suspects that neither Rashford or the club will want a reunion.
“No, it very rarely happens, a big player like that going to a big club and then coming back,” he said.
”They very rarely come back and I don’t think United will really want him back.”
Arsenal are on the market for a left winger this summer, which could see the likes of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli make way.
