Manchester United 'offered' chance to announce second Michael Carrick signing as deadline set for £21.5m deal

Manchester United have been offered the chance to finalise a deal for Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume.

A midfield rebuild is expected at Old Trafford this summer with United seeking a replacement for Casemiro after the Brazilian departed at the end of the season.

Previously, it was reported that Newcastle's Sandro Tonali, Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace were under consideration by Man Utd in their bid to plug the gap that will be left by Casemiro.

Atalanta midfielder Ederson is expected to be the first arrival with Sky Sports reporting that talks between the two clubs are now in the final stages.

United are set to pay a guaranteed £35million, with a further £3m in add-ons. An complete agreement is expected to be imminently.

West Ham's Mateus Fernandes, meanwhile, has been mooted as option for a second midfield signing.

However, reports from Spain claim United could sign Agoume for €25m (£21.5m). This is because Sevilla have to raise funds to balance their books before June 30th.

The report also states that while the Sevilla board have formally offered the midfielder to Man Utd, they have also informed the Premier League club of interest from elsewhere.

Another potential midfield option in Porto star Alan Varela has responded to transfer links with Man United.

"I'm calm and 100% focused here in Porto," he replied.

"My agent obviously handles all those matters, and I'm not thinking about that right now ... honestly, I'm not thinking about that at the moment."
