Man killed by shark while spearfishing near Michaelmas Island, Australia

  • A 35-year-old man died after being attacked by a shark while spearfishing near Michaelmas Island, off Western Australia .
  • The incident took place on Saturday morning, and despite efforts by paramedics, the man could not be revived after being brought to shore.
  • Police reported the man was bitten by a suspected 4.5-metre shark, leading to a warning for people to take precautions in the area.
  • This fatality is the third in Australia in less than a month, following two other deadly shark attacks on 24 May and 16 May.
  • Australia has now experienced four shark-related deaths this year, surpassing its recent annual average of three fatalities.
