Man charged after police respond to 'weapon' report at Scottish beach

A MAN has been arrested and charged after police responded to reports of a "weapon" at Ayr Beach.

Officers were called to the area just before 11am on Wednesday to reports of a man in possession of a weapon.

There were no reports of any injuries, and a man was arrested and charged and is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.50am on Wednesday, June 10, officers received a report of a man in possession of a weapon in the Ayr beach area.

“There were no reports of any injuries.

"A 48-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection. He was released on an undertaking to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date.”
