Liverpool XI vs Man City: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for FA Cup today

Liverpool today welcome back Mohamed Salah when they take on Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The Reds were missing their star forward in a 2-1 loss at Brighton last time out, with the Egyptian sidelined with a muscle injury.

That issue forced him out of Egypt’s international fixtures over the past fortnight, but Arne Slot has since confirmed that Salah, who announced last week that he would be leaving the club in the summer, will be back for the trip to the Etihad Stadium.

The same can be said of Federico Chiesa, who withdrew prematurely from Italy’s camp with a niggle, but is on the bench.

There was more good news from Slot about summer signing Alexander Isak, who is back in team training after he broke his leg against Tottenham back in December.

But he is not part of the squad today after Slot expressed some concerns over his ability to impact the game off the bench due to his fitness.

There are some absentees for the slot, with first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker ruled out until the latter stages of the season.

Wataru Endo, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni are longer-term absentees, though Jeremie Frimpong should return.

Alisson’s absence sees Giorgi Mamardashvili start in goal once more, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate again the go-to central defensive pairing.

Milos Kerkez gets the nod at left-back, while Dominik Szoboszlai is in midfield as Joe Gomez moves to right-back.

Curtis Jones is in the engine room, with Florian Wirtz back as the No10.

Hugo Ekitike has led the line superbly in Isak’s absence and recovered quickly from his injury suffered at Brighton, while Salah gets the nod out wide.
