Liquidators appointed to Scottish electronics firm after all jobs lost

LIQUIDATORS have been appointed to an electrical company based in Fife after all of its staff were made redundant.

The Glenrothes-based Scotrange specialised in selling and maintaining frying electronics commonly found in chip shops across Scotland before the business ceased trading.

Shona Campbell from Henderson Loggie was appointed as liquidator of the business on Tuesday.

Liquidators confirmed that the business ceased trading in June 2025 when its lease came up for renewal, and its directors decided to retire.

It is understood that the business employed five people, including the two directors, and that all of them were made redundant when Scotrange ceased trading last year.

A spokesperson for Henderson Loggie told The National the liquidation of the company was a formal process to wind up the affairs of the business that had already closed and ceased operations.

According to Scotrange’s website, the business was originally set up by Steve Wilkie and Audrey Stevenson in 1995.

Stevenson had just completed her degree in administration management at the time, and Wilkie owned his own chip shop.

Wilkie, an already qualified electrician, decided to go back to college and qualify as a gas safe engineer as he “knew only too well how difficult” it was to adhere to new insurance stipulations for frying equipment.

His qualification, coupled with the knowledge and understanding of chip shop frying, proved “invaluable” and the reputation of the business “grew from strength to strength” over the years.

According to the latest documents filed with Companies House, Stevenson and Wilkie were listed as the business's directors.

Craig Donaldson, who was also Gas Safe Registered and had a degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, joined the team several years later.

He is credited as being “instrumental” in the design of many pieces of catering equipment currently on the market.

According to documents filed with Companies House, it appears Donaldson has since started his own business replacing Scotrange.

A description on the website read: “Between them, Steve and Craig have over 55 years experience in the catering industry, specialising in Frying Ranges.

“As a result, over the past years we as a company have accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge not only in servicing and repairs of many makes and models of ranges, but also with regard to the best and worst features in different ranges and identifying the most reliable components.”
