Lewis Hamilton eyes F1 title charge after claiming first Ferrari win

  • Lewis Hamilton secured his sensational first Grand Prix victory for Ferrari at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, comfortably beating Mercedes to the top spot.
  • Starting in second position, Hamilton demonstrated superior pace throughout the 66-lap race, capitalising on a well-timed Virtual Safety Car (VSC) to pit, change tyres, and emerge in the lead, securing an assured win.
  • This victory marks Hamilton's first win in 686 days and Ferrari's first since October 2024, a significant milestone after an underwhelming first year with the Scuderia.
  • The win solidifies Hamilton's second position in the world championship standings, now trailing Kimi Antonelli by 41 points after Antonelli's late retirement from the race, and Hamilton said afterwards that the title race is “not over, that’s for sure”.
  • The podium was completed by George Russell in second place for Mercedes and Lando Norris in third for McLaren, following a dramatic race that saw championship leader Antonelli retire due to an engine issue.
