Frisco, Texas, is gettin’ saucy.
KFC’s new fast-food concept, Saucy by KFC, described by parent company Yum! Brands as a “sauce and sides forward” restaurant, is set to open in Texas later this year.
A free-standing 2,780-square-foot Saucy by KFC is planned at U.S. 380 and FM 423 in northern Frisco, according to a permit filed Monday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The $4 million project is expected to be built between mid‑June and mid‑November, The Chron reports. This plan replaces earlier filings from mid-2025 for a larger 3,900-square-foot version in the same area, originally estimated at $3.5 million, the Dallas Business Journal reported.
First launched in Orlando, Florida, in December 2024, Saucy by KFC places sauces and sides at the center of its menu, offering customers inventive flavor combinations. Alongside classic chicken tenders, the restaurant debuted with 11 sauces, honoring KFC’s Original Recipe 11 herbs and spices. The current sauce lineup includes sweet teriyaki, creole honey mustard, and smokey bacon ranch, alongside menu highlights such as tendie-loaded mac and fries, sauced Brussels bites, saucy chick’ito tacos and snack sandwiches on Hawaiian rolls.
"With Saucy, we've taken KFC's famous Original Recipe and amplified it with a brand-new concept that lets consumers play with flavor. You can pick a combo, choose a flight of sauces, or mix sauces and sides to create your perfect meal," KFC Chief New Concept Officer Christophe Poirier said when the initial Orlando location opened, Chron reports.
"Being sauce-focused allows us to be as creative as we want," Poirier added.
What sets Saucy by KFC apart is its bright pink color scheme and routine of transforming into a lively late-night spot starting at 8 p.m., with dimmed lights and louder music for “vibe dining” until closing at 11 p.m. The late-night menu features indulgent items like the Kitchen Sink Grand’ito, a large tortilla-loaded burrito filled with chicken tenders, queso, fries and a fried egg.
Florida now hosts six Saucy by KFC locations, with 13 more slated to open, many of which are replacing the closed PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality) restaurants, according to Gulfshore Business.
