- Chalmers began her broadcasting career with the BBC at just 13, going on to present shows like Family Favourites before becoming a household name as the host of Wish You Were Here...? from 1974 until 2003.
- She famously revealed in 2008 that she always “went commando” while filming the travel series to avoid visible panty lines on television.
- Appointed an OBE in 1994, Chalmers is survived by her husband, former sports commentator Neil Durden-Smith, and their two children, and was known for her passion for travel and family.
