Jim Carrey’s Ex Jenny McCarthy Drops Bombshell On What Everyone Missed After His Changed Appearance

After Jim Carrey faced intense online backlash over his February 26 appearance at the 51st César Awards in Paris, his ex-girlfriend, Jenny McCarthy, has now addressed the scrutiny publicly.

The moment that was meant to celebrate his career quickly sparked widespread discussion regarding his looks.

Weeks after the criticism, McCarthy shared her reaction to the rumors and pointed out something she believed people overlooked while focusing on his appearance.

Speaking at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 26, McCarthy shut down the viral claims that Carrey had been “replaced” or impersonated.

“It was definitely Jim Carrey,” she told People, dismissing the rumors outright.

Instead of focusing on the speculation, she highlighted a different takeaway from the night.

“He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him,” she said. “That’s the first thing I noticed.”

“You know, that’s the part that, sadly, people miss.”

Her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, also echoed the same sentiment, adding, “We’re so obsessed with how he looks that we didn’t consider how happy he looked.”

Their comments came weeks after Carrey’s appearance in Paris triggered a wave of reactions online, many of which quickly turned into conspiracy theories.

As reported by Bored Panda, Carrey attended the César Awards on February 26, 2026, in Paris, where he received an Honorary César Award for his contributions to film.

During the ceremony, he delivered much of his acceptance speech in French, something he had reportedly prepared for months. He also attended the event with his partner, daughter, grandson, and close friends.

But instead of focusing on the milestone, social media quickly shifted to his appearance.

Users began claiming he looked “unrecognizable,” pointing to his fuller face, smoother skin, and overall demeanor.

“You can’t convince me they didn’t clone Jim Carrey,” one person wrote. Another added, “Who the hell is this man?”

Others went further, questioning his posture, voice, and even eye color, with some insisting “this is 100% NOT HIM.”

At the same time, not everyone agreed with the theories. Many pushed back, arguing the reaction was exaggerated.

“Aging isn’t a conspiracy, it’s just linear time,” one user wrote, while another added, “People change as they get older.”

The criticism further fueled after drag artist Alexis Stones shared a post of Carrey’s mask

The situation escalated further when drag performer and makeup artist Alexis Stone entered the conversation.

Known for hyper-realistic celebrity transformations, Stone shared a post showing what appeared to be a Carrey mask along with makeup tools and a wig, captioning it, “Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris.”

The post quickly went viral and added another layer of confusion, with some believing it confirmed the impersonation theory.

Even celebrities reacted to the post, with Megan Fox writing, “I need to know if this is real.”

However, many others questioned the claim, pointing out that such a transformation would be extremely difficult to pull off convincingly in a live setting. Some also suggested the images looked AI-generated or were simply meant to ride the viral moment.

Besides McCarthy and Stone, officials and representatives stepped in to shut down rumors

As speculation continued to grow, Carrey’s representative issued a statement confirming that the actor personally attended the event.

“Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award,” the statement read.

César Awards general delegate Gregory Caulier also addressed the rumors, calling them a “non-issue.”

He explained that Carrey’s appearance had been planned months and involved extensive preparation.

“He worked on his speech in French for months,” Caulier said, adding that the actor had been deeply touched by the invitation.

Caulier also emphasized the atmosphere around Carrey at the event, describing him as generous and kind, and said the focus should remain on his presence rather than speculation about his appearance.

Despite several clarifications, debate continued as reactions remain divided

Even after multiple clarifications, the conversation online wasn’t fully settled.

As reported by Bored Panda, Dr. Terry Dubrow, a plastic surgeon even suggested that visible changes could be the result of a “major surgical transformation,” while others pointed to Botox or fillers.

At the same time, many viewers have criticized the reaction itself, arguing that the scrutiny speaks more about audience expectations than Carrey.

“He’s 64… of course he looks different,” one comment read. Another added, “Sometimes the only thing that’s off is our expectation that celebrities don’t age.”

Carrey, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight in recent years, has not directly responded to the rumors.

Despite that, he is all set to return for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 in 2027.
