It’s Actually Cerulean – 16 Not-Just-Blue Decor Pieces That Would Make the Cut in 'The Devil Wears Prada'

Cerulean home decor, including a vase, trinket dish, table lamp, tissue cover, tablecloth, Dutch oven, cushion cover, taper candles, dinner plate, and patterned napkins, pictured on a white background.

‘It’s not turquoise. It’s not lapis. It’s actually cerulean,’ still lingers as the now-legendary takedown delivered by Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada (2006), the moment that crystallized the once-obscure color into a cultural icon.

Aspiring journalist-turned-assistant Andy Sachs, of course, had no idea that Oscar de la Renta had shown cerulean gowns in 2002, or that Yves Saint Laurent sent out military jackets in the same shade. Two decades on, and with the highly anticipated sequel finally here, the color idea is back en vogue – splashed across SS26 runways thanks to houses like Tory Burch, who’s befittingly gone trend-to-table with her Spongeware Collection, hand-painting the bright blue across English 19th-century-inspired stoneware pitchers, dinner plates, and serving bowls.

H&M Home hasn’t missed the memo either, recently rolling out a strictly cerulean lineup of indoor and outdoor decor. Whether this is clever timing or just the fashion cycle doing its usual déjà vu, one thing’s for certain: we’re having a cerulean summer (again).

Below, 16 not-just-blue decor pieces we suspect even Miranda would approve of.
