Isak and Gyokeres on scoresheet as Sweden hammer Tunisia at World Cup

  • Sweden secured a dominant 5-1 victory over Tunisia in their World Cup opener , with Brighton's Yasin Ayari scoring twice for the Swedish side.
  • Alexander Isak, making a strong return from injury, was instrumental, scoring Sweden's second goal and assisting Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres for the third after capitalising on a defensive error.
  • Despite Tunisia's impressive qualifying record without conceding a goal, they were behind within seven minutes when Ayari opened the scoring from outside the box.
  • Tunisia briefly reduced the deficit before half-time through Omar Rekik's header, but Sweden re-established their control in the second half, with Gyokeres scoring after Isak dispossessed captain Ellyes Skhiri.
  • Mattias Svanberg added a fourth goal, confirmed by VAR overturning an initial offside decision, and Ayari completed his brace in the closing seconds to seal Sweden's comprehensive win.
