Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan lives a highly private life. Despite ruling Bollywood for decades, only a few details about his personal life are known publicly. One such incident was once shared by his wife Gauri Khan’s uncle in an old video that had previously gone viral.
In the clip, Gauri Khan’s uncle recalled how Shah Rukh Khan dug up his pet dog’s grave in the middle of the night after learning about its death.
He spoke about Khan’s emotional reaction to losing the dog. According to him, the incident took place while Shah Rukh was away for a film shoot. During his absence, the household staff buried the pet near the seashore. However, after returning home and learning what had happened, the actor insisted on digging up the grave and bringing the dog back home, unable to bear the thought of it being left there.
“Gauri is my niece, my elder sister’s daughter. I had gifted her a Chinese Pekingese dog,” he said. Recalling Shah Rukh’s bond with the pet, he added, “Shah Rukh also became very attached to the dog. He loved him a lot.”
He further explained that the dog died while Shah Rukh was away shooting. “The boys working in the house wrapped the dog in a nice cloth and took it near the seashore. They dug a grave and buried it there,” he said.
When Shah Rukh returned home late at night, he immediately asked about the dog. The staff reportedly informed him that the pet had passed away and had been buried near the sea.
The actor’s attachment to the dog became evident soon after. “At around 2:30 am, he woke up the boys and said, ‘Show me where you buried him,’” Gauri Khan’s uncle recalled.
According to him, a grief-stricken Shah Rukh then dug up the grave himself, brought the dog back home, and buried it again in the backyard, marking the spot with a sign.
He also claimed that Shah Rukh broke down in tears and angrily confronted the staff, saying, “How dare you throw my dog like this? He has to be with us, whether dead or alive.”
