Hearts confirm fourth summer transfer, potential Lawrence Shankland replacement

Heart of Midlothian have completed the signing of French forward Amadou Ba-Sy from Rouen on a three-year deal, with the fee understood to be in the six-figure range.

The 25-year-old was first targeted by the Tynecastle club during the January window, but Rouen resisted interest at the time as they chased promotion from France’s third tier.

After narrowly missing out, Hearts, backed by Jamestown Analytics, returned for the player at the end of the season and have now finalised the move. The deal remains subject to visa approval, Scottish FA sign-off and international clearance.

Standing at 6ft 2in, Ba-Sy brings a physical presence and attacking flexibility, capable of operating through the middle or from the left. He registered a combined 10 goals and assists across 19 starts last season, underlining his attacking output despite not being a regular starter throughout the campaign.

Ba-Sy began his career at Nice before moving on to Ajaccio following his release. He has since had spells with Dunkerque in France, as well as in Portugal with Vizela and Coimbra, before returning to France to join Rouen last year.

He becomes Hearts’ fourth addition of the summer transfer window, following deals for Josh McPake, MJ Kamson-Kamara and Calvin Miller, as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the new season.
