Grass blaze breaks out near Arthur’s Seat sending smoke across Edinburgh

  • A large grass fire broke out in Holyrood Park near Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh on Monday evening.
  • The blaze started near the ruins of St Anthony’s Chapel, causing a plume of smoke to spread over the city.
  • The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called at approximately 6:50 pm and deployed three appliances to tackle the fire.
  • Residents in the vicinity were advised to keep their windows and doors shut, and the public was urged to avoid the area.
  • The incident occurred during a sunny spell with temperatures reaching 25C, following reports of heat exhaustion at the Edinburgh Marathon over the weekend.
