A former Met officer who abused a teenage boy while serving as a police cadet leader has been jailed after being found guilty of sexual offences.
Former PC Grant Fulker, 32, was sentenced to 15 months in jail at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday, having previously being found guilty of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.
Mr Fulker had also pleaded guilty to three counts of misconduct in public office.
The offences took place in February 2024 in a hotel room in Heathrow, where Mr Fulker sent the victim sexualised WhatsApp messages while performing his role as a Met volunteer police cadet leader, while he was also found to have sent sexualised messages to a second teenage boy.
Mr Fulker, who was attached to Met’s Specialist Operations Command, was arrested and charged in February 2024, and was dismissed from the force a month later.
He was convicted by a jury following a 5-day trial in January.
The Met’s investigation relied on the victims’ testimony as well as witness accounts, digital evidence from Mr Fulker’s phone and other corroborating material that established a clear pattern of predatory behaviour.
He will remain on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years, and has received a 5-year Sexual Harm Protection Order (SHPO).
Commander Pete Stevens said: “Former PC Fulker used his role to target and manipulate young people who should have been able to trust him. His behaviour was calculated, predatory and a gross abuse of his position.
“Today’s sentence reflects the seriousness of his offending and the significant harm he has caused. He is now facing the consequences of his actions.
“I want to again commend the bravery of the boys who came forward to report his actions. Their strength ensured he was arrested, charged and ultimately brought to justice.
“Our volunteer police cadets do invaluable work across London. Following the emergence of these allegations, every cadet unit has been reviewed to ensure safeguarding policies are fully followed, with protecting the young people in our care remaining our utmost priority.”
