The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has formally announced the departure of Marco Goeckel, the former head coach of the Thailand U17 side, along with his staff.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the governing body expressed gratitude for their commitment and dedication during their tenure.

Goeckel's contract concluded following the AFC U17 Asian Cup finals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Under his stewardship, Thailand's U17 squad struggled to make an impact, exiting at the group stage after defeats to Tajikistan (2-0) and Saudi Arabia (2-0), alongside a 1-1 draw with Myanmar.

The team managed only a single point from three matches, falling short of expectations.

Despite the disappointment, the FAT praised Goeckel's professionalism and wished him success in future endeavours.

Attention now turns to the Asian Championship qualifying round scheduled for November, where Thailand will seek to rebuild momentum. The FAT's technical committee has been tasked with appointing a new head coach to lead preparations.

Grimsby release Jude

England side Grimsby Town have confirmed the departure of Thai-English forward Jude Soonsup-Bell as part of a wider squad reshuffle.

The League Two club announced the release of nine players at the conclusion of the 2025–26 season, with Jude among those leaving Blundell Park.

The 20-year-old striker joined the Mariners in August last year on a one-year deal. He featured in 24 league matches and five cup ties, scoring once across 29 appearances.

Grimsby finished seventh in League Two, narrowly missing out on promotion.

Reports suggest Jude remains keen to continue his career in Europe, with any offers from English or continental clubs expected to take priority.

However, speculation in Thailand indicates he may consider a move to the Thai League, with one of the clubs competing in next season's AFC Champions League being a likely destination.
